Incentives Available From the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians
The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians (“MBCI” or “Tribe”) is the only federally-recognized Indian Tribe in Mississippi. The Tribe owns industrial properties in Leake county and surrounding areas.
Tribal lands are eligible for additional economic development incentives depending on the type of economic activity:
Investment in Plant or Equipment: Tribal lands are eligible for 2x accelerated depreciation which reduces the tax liability for
companies that invest in assets on tribal lands.
Employment: Indian Employment Tax Credits are available for companies that hire tribal members. The Tribe also offers
rental discount incentives for companies that hire tribal workers.
Federal Government Contracting: Tribal lands are the only lands that are eligible for HUBZone certification regardless of the change
in demographics. The MBCI also has successful industrial tenants that benefit from strategic partnerships with the
Tribally-owned 8(a) companies.
Financing Programs: Tribal lands are eligible for numerous financing programs to fund business growth including low- interest loans, loan guarantees, and New Markets Tax Credits.
Importing: Tribal lands are eligible for Foreign Trade Zone status.
