The City of Carthage sewage treatment system was designed to     serve   8,000 people and is now serving over 4,000 people.  The natural wetlands lagoon system used for sewage treatment consists of 40.0 acres of water surface with 25.0 acres designed for industrial uses and 14.9 acres for domestic use. The  commercial sewage charge is $12.00 per month plus $1.10 per 1,000 gallons of water used. 

The Walnut Grove Sanitary Sewer System has a two cell aerated lagoons with a capacity of 194,000 gpd.  The commercial sewage charge is $8.00 per month for up to 2000 gallons plus $.20 per 100 gallons of water used.
