Leake County is in the geographic center of Mississippi, just next door to the capitol city of Jackson and is within just a few hours of Memphis, New Orleans, Mobile, Birmingham, Nashville, Atlanta, and Dallas.

Mississippi Highway 35 and Mississippi Highway 16 and four-lane Mississippi Highway 25 bisect the county.
